Pink KALANCHOE in a Green Pebble

Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is a long-flowering perennial succulent that happily will grow indoors and out. For plant lovers who lack a green thumb, growing Kalanchoe can be a good way to boost self-confidence. These plants make for wonderful windowsill color as well as desk plants.

They prefer warm temperatures, from 15 to 30 degrees indoors and will grow happily outside down to a Zone 9 however extended time with temperatures below 4 degress can cause stunt growth. Indirect light is prefered.

Water kalanchoe when the soil feels dry, but avoid wetting the leaves. Allow some time between waterings, because too much moisture can cause root rot. Trim off any dead or wilting flowers at their stems. Kalanchoe blooms throughout the year at random times, but deadheading them as needed can help maintain vigorous production. Reduce watering while the plant is in its resting period between blooms. Fertilize kalanchoe during periods of new growth. Use succulant fertilizer every two weeks. Fertilize sparingly and only during new growth periods.
